In the autumn of 2011, EUNIC in Brussels and its member institutes are presenting a series of evening talks on the advantages of shrinking in Europe, specifically based on the experience of each of the participating countries.
The first of this series was successfully hosted on 21 September 2011 at BELvue and took the title “Is Europe getting smaller? - About nationalism in the EU” . Bruno Coppieters (Political Scientist, VUB), Jurek Kuczkiewicz (Deputy Editor in Chief, Le Soir) and Prof. Dr. Peter Vermeersch (Sociologist, KUL) discussed the nationalistic discourses in Poland and Belgium and their consequences for the European integration.
