On 30 November 2011, EUNIC in Brussels, the Instituto Cervantes and the Alliance Française de Bruxelles-Europe presented the third of a series of evening talks on the advantages of shrinking in Europe.

The processes of European construction have helped the formation of highly multicultural societies across its territory. Does this phenomenon influence the shaping of shared values and shared meaning of norms indispensable to guarantee the principles of the democratic societies we live in in Europe? As the present world crisis evolves, the former consensus on the viability of peaceful co-existence in multicultural societies is publicly challenged by politicians and academics.
