On 20 January 2012, EUNIC in Brussels, the Goethe Institut and the Instituto Camões will be presenting the forth of a series of evening talks on the advantages of shrinking in Europe.
On 7 December 2011, EUNIC in Brussels and ifa (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations) organised an expert roundtable about ‘Cultural initiatives and empowerment of civil society in conflict resolution’.
Poliglotti4.eu, the EU co-funded project on multilingualism and language policy, has gathered for a Stakeholders Meeting at the Spanish Representation of the European Commission in Madrid on 1-2 December 2011.
After a tough decision for the jury, the winners of the Languages Speak Up! competition have now been announced. The 1st prize goes to Khafi Kareem from London.
On 30 November 2011, EUNIC in Brussels, the Instituto Cervantes and the Alliance Française de Bruxelles-Europe presented the third of a series of evening talks on the advantages of shrinking in Europe.
On 19 October 2011, several EUNIC in Brussels members participated in the Culture and Development Network meeting, organised by the British Council and UNESCO.
During his speech Klaus Bondam talked about the role of cultural institutes in cultural relations and in particular the role of the long established Danish Cultural Institute as a “bridge builder”.
On 3 and 4 November 2011, the Language Rich Europe partners gathered in Berlin to reflect on the current state of the project and to discuss the next steps.
On 25 October 2011, EUNIC in Brussels, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Austrian Cultural Forum Brussels successfully organized the second of a series of evening talks on the advantages of shrinking in Europe.
On 26th and 27th September, on the occasion of the European Day of Languages, EUNIC in Brussels successfully launched the first edition of the TRANSPOESIE project with a series of events, including a flash mob dance, a panel discussion and poetry reading.
In the autumn of 2011, EUNIC in Brussels and its member institutes are presenting a series of evening talks on the advantages of shrinking in Europe, specifically based on the experience of each of the participating countries.
The British Council has recently published its collection of essays “Towards a Language Rich Europe - Multilingual essays on language policies and practices”.
As part of its ongoing commitment to offering training to EUNIC member staff across Europe, EUNIC in Brussels organised the second of a series of training sessions on 15-16 September. The aim was to help participants improve their personal effectiveness.
The website will serve as the on-line reference on the practice of multilingualism in Europe, and feature a Language Observatory gathering and disseminating best practice in language policy and language learning.
